Youth Centre Construction in Kobo Finalized: The construction of Youth Centre in Amhara National Regional State of Kobo Town is being finalized and will be inaugurated soon. The fund for the construction is granted from the Ethiopian Bilateral fund of the British Embassy. Read more 

WeSMCO signs a grant agreement with French Embassy: Welfare for the street mother and Children Organization (WeSMCO) has signed a grant assistant agreement with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the French Government, French Embassy in Ethiopia in order to secure Birr 503,715.20 for the implementation of project – “Integrated Solid Waste Recycling and Environmental Management” on June 12, 2008 at the French Embassy. HIV Positive Women Trained in BBS: Under the project “Creating Income Generating Activity Opportunity for People Living With HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) in Arada Sub- City” 23 women and one disabled person living with HIV/AIDS have been trained in Basic Business Skill (BBS) on February 21 to 25, 2008 at WeSMCO’s hall found at the head quarter. WeSMCO Donated Gabion for the Millennium Park dam: With the fund granted from German Ethiopian Association, WeSMCO donated 300 Gabions of different size for the dam under construction at the millennium park of Addis Ababa by Addis Ababa Environmental protection Authority since December 2007. Destitute family urges the community to pay tax and condemn illegal trade: The various program beneficiary of WeSMCO participated on the closing of a week-long event organized by Ministry of Revenue across the country under the theme "Tax and Non-Tax Revenue - the Backbone of Our Development" on Saturday 9 February 2008 here in Addis Ababa Millennium hall urging the community to pay tax and prevent illegal trade in the country.Read more

Material Support to 13 HIV/AIDS affected Children: Catharina Francina van der Sluis, a volunteer from Netherlands, supported 44 pair of shoes and 100 USD for purchasing clothes for 13 children of HIV/AIDS infected and affected families on November 31, 2007 at WeSMCO’s head quarter compound. WeSMCO distributed school material and uniform: Welfare for the street mothers and Children Organization (WeSMCO) in collaboration with Alif and helpful individuals from Germany named Mr. Legese Sahilu and Mr. Andualem Tariku as well as Ato Asegedom Gessese from Addis Ababa, distributed school materials like exercise books, pens, pencils and uniform for 300 orphans and vulnerable as well as beneficiaries of the sponsorship program children since September18, 2007. Alif sponsored additional 45 children:  Alliance Investment Fund (Alif) an American based organization sponsored 45 new children in addition to the previously sponsored 8 children since September 2007. The organization has supported about Birr 20,724.49 during the last year to cover the cost of school fee, material and monthly payment of domestic expense for eight children.  Read more

 World AIDS Campaign 2006 Celebrated in Arada Sub City kebeles: Welfare for the Street Mothers and Children in collaboration with the Kebeles 11/12, 13/14, 10 and 01/02 HIV desk and Home Based Care Takers (HBC) celebrated world AIDS campaign 2006 following the launching of community mobilization and awareness creation campaign on voluntary counseling and testing (VCT) and antiretroviral therapy (ART) treatments and services on November 31, 2006 at Arada Health Center. Senator Sam Brownback Visited Gordeme Garden:The Senator of United States, Sam Brownback visited one of the urban agriculture program sites of WeSMCO found at Gordeme in Piazza, Addis Ababa on Friday January 12, 2007.
